Our Picks for the Women’s Surf Ranch Pro

In the two preceding editions of the Surf Ranch Pro, it’s safe to say that the women’s side has been a little less predictable. Four different surfers occupied the top two positions across those years, in contrast to the men’s, where Medina beat Toledo both times. This year shapes up as being equally unpredictable – …

Rip Curl Rottnest Search - The Wash-Up

The Australian leg of the 2021 Championship Tour is over as quickly as it begun, with four events having been crammed into less than two months of action. Our Picks for the Women’s Margaret River Pro

Carissa Moore started the season like a house on fire, but at Narrabeen, she was knocked off her proverbial perch by arguably the most prodigiously talented young surfer in the world in Caroline Marks. Marks’ win propelled her into second-place in the Championship Tour standings, and she’ll be looking to close the gap on Moore even further at Margaret River – as will about ten or fifteen others. However, goofy-footers like Marks have typically struggled at this event, and the powerful styles of regular-footers like Moore and Tyler Wright will hold them in good stead over the next week or so.

Our Tips for the Men’s Margaret River Pro

With the two replacement events at Newcastle and Narrabeen now done and dusted, the Championship Tour returns to the familiar Margaret River for the fourth leg of the season. One of the most picturesque righthand point breaks on the planet, Margaret River has been a happy hunting ground for regular-footers in recent years, with the last five winners on both the men’s and women’s side of the tour surfing the wave frontside. This year, however, two of the favourites to take out the event will be surfing their backhand – can they buck the trend and get one back for the goofy-footers?
