Hopping on this adrenaline-pumping, ever-popular water activity is an excellent way to experience the seas and offers a great alternative to surfing. Our collection of boards features various designs, from beginner-friendly boards to high-performance, superior traction models that provide an exhilarating ride down the shoreline.

How are Surf Boards and Skim Boards Different?
At first glance, surfing and skimboarding look similar because both involve riding the waves. However, if we look closely, they differ in several ways.
Here are some key differences to remember:
Skimboards are shorter and narrower than surfboards.
The first thing you’ll immediately notice is their size. Surfboards are generally longer and broader than skim boards, designed to be ridden in the deeper parts of the ocean where waves build up to break.
On the other hand, skimboards are shorter and narrower because they’re designed to be used in shallow waters where waves break close to the shore.
Skimboards are suited for riding shallow water or breaking waves.
When riding the surfboard, you typically paddle out to deeper water and catch waves as they rise behind you, then stand up and ride them all the way back to shore.
In riding the skim board, you throw it onto shallow water or at the shoreline, where waves break, and run after it to hop on. That is why they are lightweight and have a unique shape that allows the rider to easily launch and glide on a thin layer of water.
Skim boards have a weaker rocker than surfboards.
The rocker refers to the curve of the board from nose to tail and is an essential design element that affects how it rides on the water.
Surfboards typically have a more significant curve or rocker, which makes them easier to manoeuvre when surfing waves. For skimboards, however, you’ll notice that the rocker is less pronounced to make it easier for them to glide flat on the sand and water surface.
There is more variety with skim boards.
Though different designs are available, surfboards usually have more standardised shapes and sizes. You have more options for skimboards in design, shapes and sizes, depending on the rider’s skill level and the type of waves they plan on riding.
