From your workplace to going out for dinner, or heading on a hike or going to the snow you can stay warm this winter. The early morning surf checks made easier with a warm jacket, will get you in the water surfing quicker. One tip: If you love to layer up, go up a size in your puffer jacket so you can add layers and stay warm. Every brand we carry have their own puffer jackets but here is my top 3 picks this winter.
- Rip Curl’s Anti-series Anoeta Jacket $139.99
- Billabong’s Transport Adiv Puffer Jacket $129.99
- Elements Lola Puffer Jacket $179.99
1. Rip Curl’s Anti-series Anoeta Jacket $139.99
My favourite this season is Rip Curl’s Anti-series Anoeta puffer jacket. This all over quilt with woven stitch on the outside gives a modern twist to the traditional lined puffer jackets, giving the jacket more shape and a less bulky look. This puffer jacket is made of durable woven polyester but is Sherpa lined (fur) throughout the body and the hood for warmth. This soft Sherpa lining is super warm. The best thing I love about this jacket is Rip Curl’s Anti-series top end DWR treatment over the fabric that repels water. It is not waterproof but is water repellent making the jacket water resistant and eliminates water absorption which allows you to keep dry in the elements. It is available in olive green and black, I have both because I couldn’t decide what colour I wanted.
2. Billabong’s Transport Adiv Puffer Jacket $129.99
Billabong’s Transport Adiv Puffer jacket came a close second this season. With a sportier look, you can take this jacket on any adventure whether you are going to climb pigeon house mountain in the local area or just watch a local sport game day or night. The Adventure Division Transport puffer jacket packs down for travel, so if your going overseas and think you don’t want to take one because they take up too much room in your travel bag, think again. You can roll this jacket up nice and tight which helps to pack the rest of you clothes while traveling. It is also light weight but still keeps you very warm. Wear with a base layer underneath especially if going to watch a football game in winter with a nice scalf, jeans and boots. You can’t go wrong.
3. Elements Lola Puffer Jacket $179.99
Coming in third is Elements Lola Puffer Jacket. Everyone should have a black puffer jacket in their wardrobe but if you want to spice it up a bit this Artisan Gold colour is a way to make a statement. It looks best with a pair of your favourite black jeans. This puffer jacket doesn’t have a hood but still has a high neck to keep the cool wind going down your neck. It’s a little more of a cropped jacket with an oversized look. This helps to wear another layer underneath especially on those really cold days.
My number one tip on how to look after and wash your puffer jacket this winter as well is a gentle cold machine wash. Also, turn the puffer jacket inside out before you wash it. Do not put in a tumble drier. The best way to dry your puffer is to lay it flat in the shade. On a clothing, rack is best. When cared for properly your puffer jacket will last for years.
